Raven/Nuthatch

We have a family of Ravens on our land

I study them through our spotting scope

Today while walking the dog

Short walk, just down the driveway

We came upon a field of feathers

Lying on the melting snow

The feathers were blue-gray and rusty

Most likely a Nuthatch

With a jelly jar and long tweezers

I carefully collected the feathers

I laid them side-by side in three lines

On an old, square piece of white cardboard

I waited for the sun to come through the window

I will post the photo on social media

I will get likes, shares, comments and replies

I will have images, text and content

Because a Raven fed its young

And a Nuthatch lost its feathers
